Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Comprehensive mental health assessments and ongoing support

Brittany Szaks, CRNP-PMH, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in the assessment and treatment of mental health concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. Her approach emphasizes thorough evaluation, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative decision-making to support patients across a range of clinical needs and life circumstances.

Psychiatric NP services are available to Maryland residents only.

How We Help

Medication Management

Our NP may recommend FDA-approved psychiatric medications when appropriate, but only in collaboration with you and your goals. If you prefer not to use medication, that’s okay— she can work with you to explore other treatment options, such as therapy, skills development, or coordination with your existing providers. Her approach focuses on safe, thoughtful prescribing as one tool among many to support your mental health.

The Process

Step One

Reach out

Reach out to our office by phone, message, or by submitting our contact form. We’ll answer your questions and guide you through the next steps so you know what to expect.

Step Two

Schedule Your Visit

Choose a time that works with your availability. We’ll confirm your appointment and provide any intake forms or paperwork to complete beforehand, so your visit is focused on your needs.

Step Three

Assessment

During your visit, Brittany will review your mental health history, current concerns, and personal goals. This collaborative discussion helps clarify your needs and guides the development of a care plan designed around you.

Step Four

Follow-Up

After your assessment, Brittany provides ongoing guidance and support to help you achieve your mental health goals. Medication may be recommended as part of your plan, but only if appropriate and always in collaboration with you. If you prefer not to use medication, she can coordinate other treatment options, such as therapy, and work with your existing providers to ensure comprehensive support.

Collaborative Mental Health Support

Our NP approaches mental health care with a focus on understanding your unique needs and goals. She combines advanced nursing expertise with evidence-based practices to guide assessment, planning, and ongoing support. Every step of her process is collaborative— you shape the plan, and your preferences guide treatment decisions.

  • Patient-Centered: Care decisions are made together, with your values and goals considered.

  • Evidence-Based: Brittany uses current research and clinical best practices to inform recommendations.

  • Integrated Support: Working within a practice that provides both therapy and psychiatric services allows for seamless coordination and continuity of care. This integrated approach helps ensure your plan is consistent, well-informed, and aligned with all aspects of your mental health support.
