Your Insurance Coverage: What You Need to Know
Please read carefully before scheduling your appointment or services.
We're committed to working with many insurance plans in Maryland and Texas. We accept a wide range of insurance providers and do our best to match you with an in-network therapist. Coverage depends on your individual plan.
You are responsible for knowing your coverage. It's your responsibility to understand your insurance benefits before your appointment. Your specific plan may have different costs, limits, and rules than someone else's plan with the same insurance company.
Verify your benefits before your appointment. Call your insurance company directly to confirm:
-
Your plan is currently active
-
What services are covered
-
If you need pre-approval before your visit
-
Your out-of-pocket costs (copays, deductibles, coinsurance)
-
Whether our facility and providers are in-network
Verify provider credentials with your insurance. Some insurance plans require specific licenses or credentials. For example, Medicaid in Maryland may require an LCSW-C (Licensed Clinical Social Worker–Credential). Ask your insurance company to confirm your provider meets their requirements.
Rules differ between Maryland and Texas. Insurance coverage and credentialing rules vary by state. Your coverage may change depending on where you live or receive services.
Have questions? Contact our billing team (billing@serenityplace.biz) or your insurance company before your appointment. We're here to help.
Fees
Payment is coordinated through our client portal. We submit your claims for you and ask for a credit card to be on file for co-pays. Our billing department will send invoices and is able to assist.
To find out co-pays and deductibles that need to be met, reach out to your insurance company- most plans cover mental health services.
Forms of Payment Accepted:
-
Cash
-
Check
-
American Express
-
Mastercard
-
Visa
-

Health Savings Account
Private Pay
Cost Per Session: $150
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling is $150 per session, paid at the time of service. We do not bill insurance for couples counseling.
Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis assigned to one individual. Couples counseling treats the relationship itself, not an individual condition, so we are unable to bill insurance. Private pay keeps the process straightforward for everyone.
Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend a session, please cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment. Otherwise, you may be charged a late cancellation fee.
Please reach out directly to your therapist for cancellations and rescheduling options.
Good Faith Estimate Notice
Notice to clients and prospective clients:
Under the law, healthcare providers must give clients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You can ask your healthcare provider and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service or at any time during treatment.
-
If you receive a bill of at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate or visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
