Our Services

Therapy for Children

At Serenity Place, we provide therapy for children who need extra support as they grow and learn about the world. Whether your child is dealing with big feelings, worries, or changes at home or school, or simply needs a safe and caring space to express themselves, our therapists are here to help kids feel understood, build confidence, and discover their own strengths.

Care that works with real life

Growing up isn't always easy, and sometimes kids need extra support along the way. We work with children experiencing:

Worries & Anxiety: fears about school, separation worries, shyness around others, and feeling overwhelmed by big emotions

Sadness & Mood Changes: persistent sadness, irritability, tearfulness, and loss of interest in play or favorite activities

Confidence & Self-Esteem: feeling good about themselves, making mistakes without giving up, and developing a healthy sense of who they are

Family & Friendship Challenges: conflict at home, divorce or separation, blended families, and trouble making or keeping friends

Life Changes: starting or changing schools, moving to a new home, grief and loss, or welcoming a new sibling

Behavioral Concerns: big reactions and tantrums, difficulty managing anger, trouble following directions, and struggles with focus or sitting still

If you don't see your concern listed, we encourage you to reach out. Our therapists work with children at every age and stage and will help you find the right fit for your family.

What to Expect

Your initial appointment is an opportunity for your therapist to get to know your child: their experiences, their feelings, and what you as a family are hoping to achieve. There are no expectations, just a warm, welcoming introduction. Child therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes and often incorporate play, art, and other age-appropriate activities, since children naturally express themselves through play. Your therapist will work closely with you as parents or caregivers to set goals and tailor treatment to your child's specific needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches. We offer both in-person appointments and secure telehealth sessions, so your family can access care in the way that feels most comfortable and convenient.

Sessions provide a safe, private space for your child to express themselves. During your first appointment, your therapist will explain how privacy works in children's therapy — including how parents and caregivers stay informed and involved in their child's progress, and the limited legal exceptions to confidentiality.

Therapy from Anywhere in MD or TX

Distance, busy schedules, and competing demands shouldn't keep your child from getting the help they need. Serenity Place LLC offers child therapy via convenient, confidential telehealth to families throughout Maryland and Texas. Our therapists use evidence-based, age-appropriate approaches to help children manage worries and big feelings, navigate life's changes, and build confidence and resilience.

We understand that many children (especially those under 10) often do best with in-person care, and we're happy to discuss what's right for your child. Please note that we currently have a waitlist for in-person appointments. For children ages 2-7, we also offer virtual Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based approach designed specifically for young children that empowers parents and caregivers to support their child — and works well over telehealth.

Wherever your family is in your journey (or in the state), quality care is just a video call away. To learn more about virtual therapy, click here.
